The HealthPro Plus room air purifier by IQAir has received Consumers Digest’s prestigious “Best Buy” award in the Premium category for the fifth time in a row.
The HealthPro Plus has been featured prominently in Consumers Digest in an article titled “Breathe Easy: High-Performance Air Purifiers.” The award marked the fifth consecutive time that thistop rated air purifier received a Best Buy award.
“It is a great honor to receive a Consumers Digest Best Buy award five times in a row,” said Frank Hammes, President of IQAir. “We work hard to continuously find ways to make the HealthPro Plus even better and to stay ahead of the competition.”
Consumers Digest has said the HealthPro Plus remains the only air purifier that it found to have a combination of a 10-year warranty, six fan speeds, and four-stage filtration for airborne pollutants. Consumers Digest evaluated the HealthPro Plus in its current New Edition configuration, first introduced during the 2010s, which delivers up to 25 percent more clean air, up to 38 percent longer filter life, and 32 percent less sound than previous HealthPro Plus models. Previous models of the HealthPro Plus already had a long track record of prestigious awards and recognition for effectiveness in mitigating indoor air pollution.
How did the HealthPro Plus earn this award?
The “Best Buy” designation is based on four main criteria:
- performance
- ease and cost of maintenance
- quality of construction
- coverage area that the air purifier cleans
The Consumers Digest staff conducts hands-on evaluation and research to identify exceptional values.
In a previous article that awarded the HealthPro Plus with a Best Buy award, titled “Air Supply: Best Buys in Air Purifiers, Humidifiers and Portable Heaters,” Consumers Digest found the HealthPro Plus to be “ideal for allergy sufferers” and praised its ability to clean air in large spaces.
IQAir air purifiers are the only HyperHEPA air cleaners made for the home market. HyperHEPA is the highest standard of HEPA filtration. While most HEPA air purifiers are only tested to filter fine particles down to 0.3 microns in size, patented HyperHEPA technology can filter particles down to 0.003 microns with a guaranteed minimum efficiency of over 99 percent, offering up to 100 times the air cleaning efficiency oftraditional HEPA air purifiers.
HealthPro Plus has also proven effective in helping reduce airborne pollutants in workplaces and schools heavily impacted by air pollution.
This high efficiency has also proven effective in helping reduce airborne pollutants in workplaces and schools heavily impacted by air pollution.
A 2012 pilot study in Indoor Air found that IQAir air purifiers were able to reduce concentrations of PM2.5, ultrafine particles (UFPs), and black carbonin indoor environments by 87-96 percent.1 This study was conducted at three schools in heavily polluted areas using the HealthPro Plus along with high-efficiency panel filters that far outperform typical MERV 13 standards.
As Consumers Digest reviewers wrote, “The IQAir HealthPro Air Purifier is a step up from most of the air purifiers we’ve reviewed...for homes with people who are highly sensitive to allergens or where there is someone who is ill and can’t afford to catch an illness from another family member, IQAir’s HealthPro may be worth it.”
And the HealthPro Plus also includes five pounds of activated carbon packed into and arranged in a V-shaped filter. The two-stage V5-Cell gas and odor filter uses dual media to filter a wide spectrum ofvolatile organic compounds (the cause of odors) and other harmful chemical vapors from common indoor sources, such ascooking, cleaning with chemicals, and offgassing from furniture, paint, dry-cleaned clothing, and pesticides.
A combination of granular activated carbon adsorption and pelletized chemisorption work together for gas, odor, and chemical filtration far beyond that of conventional activated carbon filters found in many air purifiers, helping protect indoor spaces from toxic buildups of gases and VOCs.
The HealthPro Plus also features a powerful centrifugal fan whose speed, energy efficiency, and durability translates into even better air cleaning results than other, more traditionally designed fans on the market.
This three-dimensionally optimized design uses state-of-the-art aerodynamics to convert energy into more air and less noise, using the highest-quality fan motor available for up to 1325 m3/h of air delivery at 2750 rpm.
Because each fan is individually balanced and uses steel ball bearings, it is designed to outlast other fans by years. And the fan is suspended in a housing unit that isolates the fan from the housing along with eight shock absorbers to further reduce noise.
The HealthPro Plus also requires no more power than a conventional light bulb, delivering up to 780 cubic feet of air per minute while requiring as little as 27 watts of power at the lowest speed and up to a maximum of 215 watts at the highest speed.
Consumers Digest cautions readers in the article that there are many air-purifying devices being sold today that do not live up to their advertising claims. Many manufacturers use gimmicks likeUV air purification, negative ionisation, and particle “destruction,” all of which can introduce even more dangerous substances into your air.
IQAir makes the world’s only certified HyperHEPA home air cleaners. Each HealthPro Plus is individually tested and certified at the factory to make sure that the air cleaner shipped to the consumer performs exactly as promised.
And the performance of IQAir filtration technology is achieved using only safe, proven mechanical filtration technology, without generating dangerous ions, ozone, or UV. Mechanical filtration used by IQAir HyperHEPA particle filters removes particles from the air by safely capturing them on filter materials. Other air cleaning technology can be less effective or incorporate unsafe methods, when IQAir offers proven protection without harmful byproducts.
Consumers Digest defines a Best Buy as the product that offers the most value for a given amount of money. That doesn’t mean that it is the least expensive product in a category, nor does it mean it is the best-known brand.
A Consumers Digest Best Buy is a nationally available product that is identified as one that merits special attention from consumers based on its combination of performance, ease-of-use, features, durability, warranty, efficiency, styling, and maintenance and service requirements.
The Best Buy Seal and other licensed materials are registered certification marks and trademarks of Consumers Digest Communications, LLC, used under license.
The takeaway
Beyond its widely celebrated use for the home, IQAir HyperHEPA technology has also been recognized for its wide applications in schools, workplaces, and other large facilities.
Both the IQAir Clean Air Facility and Clean Air Schools programs rely on the same award-winning IQAir technology that has earned the Consumers Digest Best Buy award five times and running.
