Proven to filter critical biological contaminants

IQAir’s HyperHEPA technology has been tested and proven to filter biological contaminants such as bacteria¹ and viruses² in their airborne state – viruses like aspergillosis³, MRSA, and SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. HyperHEPA filtration was used by the Hong Kong Hospital Authority to help protect staff and patients during the SARS-CoV-1 epidemic in 2003 and the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in 2020.

Traps ultrafine particles

Ultrafine particles are smaller than 0.1 microns, make up about 90% of all airborne particles, and have been linked to heart attacks, strokes, asthma, respiratory conditions, and even cancer. IQAir HyperHEPA filtration in the GC and GCX Series filters 95% of all particles down to 0.003 microns – the smallest particles that exist, including airborne viruses and bacteria.

Delivers the purest air possible

HyperHEPA particle filtration features a powerful HyperHEPA pre-filter that traps particles of all sizes, including ultrafine particles and airborne contaminants like viruses.
Cartridge-based activated carbon adsorption filters volatile organic compounds (VOCs) responsible for odors.
Cartridge-based chemisorption filters harmful chemicals, such as formaldehyde, by an oxidation process inside a chemically active alumina pellet.
Post-filter sleeve wraps each gas cartridge to prevent release of media dust.

The GC and GCX Series feature the highest-quality filter media available beginning with the highest quality, exceptionally porous, activated bituminous-coal carbon in its gas-phase filtration cartridges, blended with chemisorbers that target volatile organic compounds in the air, including formaldehyde, and pelletized aluminum oxide impregnated with potassium permanganate to filter a wide spectrum of gases, odors and chemicals.

New Edition technology

IQAir New Edition technology makes the GC and GCX Series more powerful than ever. New Edition systems deliver up to 21% more clean air, 20% longer filter life, and 32% less sound across all fan speeds with the most powerful fan ever used in a commercial stand-alone air purifier as well as new pleating patterns and other technological advances that increase airflow and filter life.

3D UltraSeal

The efficiency stated for most air cleaners is purely theoretical. Internal leakage drastically reduces the actual efficiency of most air cleaners. IQAir systems feature patented triple sealing technology, with filter media that’s 100 percent sealed in the filter. 3D UltraSeal ensures perfect knife-edge-in-groove sealing between filter frame and housing. Individual seals on each housing module ensure an airtight housing.

Certified performance

IQAir looks beyond theoretical claims, testing the performance of each individual GC and GCX Series system at the factory to ensure that it meets our strict specifications. The results of the tests are detailed in a hand-signed Certificate of Performance, which is included with every air purifier. No GC or GCX Series air purifier will be shipped from the factory unless it is certified to provide a minimum of 99% efficiency against particles, including airborne contaminants like viruses and bacteria.

Energy efficient

GC and GCX Series air purifiers are so efficient that they need no more electricity than a light bulb. At the very heart of this air purifier is the ultra-efficient, centrifugal, high performance IQAir New Edition fan and its maintenance-free motor. This mechanical powerhouse delivers up to 780 cubic feet of air per minute (without filters) while requiring as few as 27 watts of power at the lowest speed and up to a maximum of 215 watts at the highest speed.
